dual pane window seal broken

The top of the driver's side window has moisture between the panes. Can a regular glass company fix this or do I need to order a new window from the mfg. ?

RE: 35' RV +toad over hwy 29 from Calistoga

I took that road with a 40ft MH towing a car, I made it without tooo much problem but won't try it again, the next year I backtracked from Calistoga to get around it. There are signs warning big trucks are not recommended. Tight corners with not much shoulder on the downhill side. If you are comfortable driving your rig it is doable but I know i tend to cut the corners turning right.

Leaving a 5'ver in AZ for the summer

We are thinking of buying a 5th wheel down in Az and leaving it over the summer and spending 5 months in a park. Anyone done this and were there any problems?

RE: inporting to canada

Maybe GST, dash airconditioner tax, federal inspection and provincial inspection. Make sure it ia an acceptable model. You can check this out on the customs web site.

RE: New a towing.......

I tow a 4x4 Chev Colorado, no changes required, just follow owners manual. Any 4x4 should do but some mfg.'s don't recommend it as don't want to be responsible if someone screws it up.

Is there a best brand hitch?

I will probably be getting a f450 and hauling a 16000- 19000lb trailer with about a 3000 lb hitch weight. Is there one brand of hitch that may be better than others?

RE: Down to 2 brands

There is always a down side with any RV chosen, seems you have to compromise on one thing to get soemthing else, We will certainly miss have 2 sinks in our motorhome.

Down to 2 brands

We seem to have our selection narrowed down, especially after we found out Alpenlite has closed down. Either a Mobile Suites or Carri-Lite with side bath. Will probably use a F350 or F450 dually as a tow vehicle. Would like any and all opinions on these. Our style of travelling has changed so we thought we would sell our motorhome although we will miss it. No llonger fulltiming but will still be snowbirds and plan to spend 5-6 months in the 5'er, mostly in one place, Yuma.

RE: Cameo vs Mobile Suite vs Bighorn

The max towing capacity of a 3500 DRW is 15900 lbs., I believe the Mobile Suite is over that or at the max.

RE: Cedar Creek vs Carriage

Slow six, do you realize that a Silverado or Seirra 3500 with DRW has a rated towing capacity of only 15900 and a loaded Carri-lite ia approx. 18000lbs?

Cedar Creek vs Carriage

I looked at the Carri-lites last week and was pretty impressed but the dry weight and total weight are intimidating, I assume I would need at least a Ford 450 to pull it. Going to look at a Cedar Creek Daydreamer this week and from what I see on the internet they look well equiped but the weight is sooo much less than the Carri-lite, what gives?

RE: Trip to Canada

i recommend Fort Victoria RV Park which is right in Victoria and n ot far from downtown (250-479-8112). It will be full in the summer so make a reservation. We took the Coho ferry (www.cohoferry.com) from Port Angeles to Victoria and it cost us about 160.00 for a 40ft MH and toad, about the rpice of a hotel for a night. Loved the Gardens but was there in the spring so not quite in bloom. May is probably a good time.

RE: Class A Motorhome Ladder and roof

I read my ladder is rated for 200lbs, probably has some excess for safety but I wouldn't chance it,

RE: Going to the factory for service

I can't imagine I would find sitting in a field somewhere with nothing to do would be my idea of a great time. Red Bay, Alabama or Northern Indiana either one is on my short list of future vacation destinations.
.
Nothing to do? You must not have read any posts as to what is in or around Red Bay, and to me any any place where I meet really nice, friendly people IS a great vacation destination, and there are many of these folks working for or around the factory. IMO people make the trip worthwhile or not.

RE: Import Motorhome into Canada

I had a 30 day permit to get mine back home, I believe they can be extended with a good reason but don't know for how long, plus you either need a new permit for Canada or enough time left to get inspections done in Canada. Didn't have to pay any duty and I got the factory to put on day time running lights which was only modification I needed. Also had Canadian insurance on my motorhome from date I picked it up if I remember correctly but you can"t get plates till inspections are done. Saved a pile of $ buying in thw states and GST was 8% and dollar a lot lower back then.

autoformers and or surge guards

Even though I have been full timing for 3 years with no problems and travelled through most of Canada and USA I am again considering purchasing one of the above. I would like to hear from people who have actually had their wiring fried when using 50 amp plug in, not second hand stories. I have heard that as most 50 amp wiring is comparitively new there should be no big problems when used. Looking around the park I am in with lots of motorhomes, I have not seen one portable surge guard or autoformer. If they are here they must be the installed type. I have also been through a few power outages with no problems. How big of a risk am I taking?
